H. ANTHONY HERVOL, born Austin, Texas, 1967. Texas, the Honorable Ronald B. King, Chief United States Bankruptcy Judge (1992-1993). Areas of Practice/Experience: Business and consumer bankruptcy, civil litigation, specialty consumer litigation (e.g. FCRA, FDCPA, TDCA, RESPA/Section 6), consumer class actions. Mr. Hervol also has extensive and varied experience as a general practitioner in the areas of real estate, commercial litigation, probate, domestic relations, and criminal defense. Complex litigation experience includes certification by the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas as lead or co-lead class counsel in three nationwide class action cases filed under the Fair Credit Reporting Act [Sleezer, et. al. v. Chase Bank USA, N.A., et. al., Civil Action No. 5:07-cv-961-HLH (W.D. Tex.), King v. United SA Federal Credit Union, Civil Action No. 09-cv-0937-NN, and Duncan vs. JP Morgan Chase Bank, N.A. (2015).  Mr. Hervol was also certified by the United States District Court as co-lead class counsel in a state-wide class action filed under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Texas Debt Collection Act, being Boles vs. Moss Codilis, LLC and Nationstar Mortgage, LLC, Civil Action No. 5: 10-cv-1003-XR (W.D. Tex.) (Final Judgment entered July 30, 2012)].  Mr. Hervol has served as lead counsel in multiple jury trials in federal and state court, and numerous non-jury cases in state courts in various counties in Central and South Texas, and before the United States Bankruptcy Court on matters where bankruptcy jurisdiction existed.  Mr. Hervol has represented more than 3000 individuals and businesses in cases filed under the bankruptcy code, served as lead counsel on more than 100 contested adversary proceedings filed in various United States Bankruptcy Courts, and has also handled a number of bankruptcy appeals.  Author and Presenter: Frequent author and speaker at State Bar of Texas continuing legal education courses, private continuing legal education courses, and local bar associations, on bankruptcy and consumer law issues ranging from consumer bankruptcy law, credit reporting and the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and mortgage servicing abuses.  2009 co-presenter of speech at the State Bar of Texas Advanced Consumer Bankruptcy Course that was voted among the "Best of" all State Bar CLE presentations in 2009.  Awards: Recipient of Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid “Champions of Justice” Award (2010) and “Justice for the People Award” (2012); Recipient of State Bar of Texas Local Bar Services Committee Award for Best Feature/Human Interest Story (2021-2022).
